The "new" Iranian airline Channel 2 News
While Iranian officials continue nuclear negotiations in Lausanne, Iran continues to assist the Houthi rebels in Yemen in deceptive ways: Among other means, Iran has set up a new airline in order to transfer weapons to Yemen, following international sanctions which were imposed on the existing airline.
While the nuclear negotiations in Lausanne are trying to progress, indications of a problematic pattern of behavior on the side of Teheran seem to appear. In order for the Islamic Republic to continue aiding the Houthi rebels in Yemen, without jeopardizing the nuclear negotiations with the West, Iran is operating an entire fraud network.
For example, the United States has previously imposed sanctions on an Iranian airline that transferred arms to Syria and other speculative places. Therefore, Iran has changed the name of the airline company to “Pouya Air” and declared it as a completely new airline. Pouya Air is basically an alias for the existing and sanctioned “Yas Air,” listed for transporting weapons and other illicit cargo to Iranian clients in the Levant region.
An entire fraud network? Channel 2 News
All of Pouya Air’s departures and arrivals take place in the Revolutionary Guard’s airport; therefor it is difficult to conceal the fact that the airline is operating in the service of the regime.
Another suspicious move is the “tourism agreement” signed between Iran and Yemen, allowing 14 weekly flights from Tehran to Sana’a. It can be assumed that not many Iranian tourists desire to visit Yemen at these times of bloodshed in the region. Therefore, it can be concluded that the aircraft does not carry tourists or humanitarian aid, rather weapons. Intelligence officials are aware of the fact that the Iranians have been transferring advanced missiles to Yemen, which are capable of striking sea vessels, among others.
