Putin opposes possible Israeli weapon supply to Ukraine
In an unusual statement, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned Israel not to supply arms to the Ukraine as a political response to the Russia-Iran S-300 purchase deal.
On Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin was interviewed by a local television channel and stated that Israeli arms in the Ukraine would be 'counterproductive', and would lead to more casualties.
RT news channel reported that Putin warned Israel not to sell arms to the Ukraine as a political response to Russia's agreeing to supplyS-300 missile systems to Iran . "It will only lead to yet another swirl of confrontation, to more human casualties, but the result will be the same," Putin stated in the interview.
"This is a choice the Israeli leadership must make; they have the right to do what they consider appropriate," he added. The Russian President refused to comment on rumors that Russia had refused to supply the S-300 system to Syria after Israel requested that he didn’t.
Earlier this week, Putin stated that a purchase deal with a "certain Middle-Eastern country" had been cancelled, due to Israel's request. He argued that Jerusalem feared that if the system reached that country, Israel would be unable to continue collecting aerial information there.
