The incident happened yesterday (Saturday). The father was wounded in his lower back, and was released after a short treatment. The mother, eight months pregnant, is still hospitalized, while the fetus’s condition is unclear.
The police investigation found that the parents and the children were staying at a hotel in Albuquerque. At one point, the little boy pulled out a gun from his pregnant mother’s purse, and managed to fire one shot at the father’s direction.
The bullet penetrated the father’s thigh and hit the mother’s right shoulder. The two children were not hurt, and were later transferred to the city’s welfare institutions.
“Details of the case are being examined and were sent to the District Attorney,” Albuquerque police said. “The DA will decide whether to accuse the parents of negligence.”
