Reports: Israel attacked targets in Syria

Lebanese media reports Israeli Air Force strikes in the area of Quneitra, close to the Israeli border. Reports also claim that unmanned aircrafts circled the skies and later an IDF helicopter fired two rockets on a Jabhat al-Nusra target.

Lebanese media reports that this afternoon (Sunday) an Israeli helicopter attacked several targets in the Syrian Golan Heights, close to Syria’s border with Israel.
According to reports by the Hezbollah TV-station “Al-Manar”, two rockets were fired at a target in the town of Mazraat al-Amal. The town is located in the suburbs of Quneitra in the Syrian Golan Heights, close to the border with Israel. No injuries were reported thus far.
The IDF operation, which has not been confirmed by Israeli authorities, is claimed to have taken place shortly after two unmanned aircrafts circled the area, seemingly in order to gather intelligence. The town of Mazraat al-Amal is located close to the border with Israel, in an area which has previously been known to inhabit members of Jabhat al-Nusra.
The IDF informed residents of the Golan Heights that no changes have taken place in previous instructions. As a response to the publication, IDF’s spokesperson said that they “do not respond to reports on foreign media”.
Earlier today it was reported that Israeli forces fired smoke grenades and tear gas into Lebanese territory. Reports that three Lebanese soldiers were evacuated to the hospital in order to receive medical treatment as a result of the attack, were also not confirmed by Israeli authorities.
On the backdrop of this escalation, Secretary General of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah threatened two days ago that Israeli attempts to thwart the smuggling of arms described as “tie-breakers” have failed. “Fateh-110 is an obsolete rocket compared to what we have now”, said Nasrallah in an interview with Lebanese media. The rockets to which he referred have a range of 300 kilometers, can carry a warhead of half-a-ton and are of high precision.
